I got called to fill in at the Star Tavern in Little River SC Tuesday night. This gig was basically a jam session but with covers mixed in. I had no time to prepare or learn songs so it was just one of those things where you just hang on tight for the ride. While I was there I also had the opportunity to play with saxophonist Leroy Harper who played for James Brown for 14 years!
Such a great group of guys in this video. They were very helpful in guiding me through some of the tunes and they were all superb musicians! This gig is an example of one of the many reasons why I love music. Getting to meet new people and carry on a conversation that not many can. It’s like a club and you gotta know the password to get in the door. Very thankful for these moments.
