Dredg – The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion (2009)

This album right here…. This album! One word, organic. When Dredg were in the studio recording for The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion They were releasing short teasers on YouTube titled The Leaflet. These were videos showing short snippets of all of the crazy things they were using in the creation of this album. From recording vocals in a tunnel, raking a screwdriver across the stings in an open piano, to talking through a toy megaphone. There are so many different textures that grab your ear but only add to the bigger picture they are painting. This album has the classic Dredg sound but with a sense of maturity. Dino Campanella is a beast on the song Gathering Pebbles! His style of playing is intense but precise. Did I mention he plays piano with his left hand while playing drums on the song Information? This is also one of those albums that you should listen to in full. There are a few hit singles but don’t forget about the big picture 😉
